Happy Halloween!!!

Much to my surprise, Lexi actually enjoyed trick or treating this year. She is a little bit on the "chicken" side when it comes to scary things, and people that are dressed up...hard for her to differentiate between real and fake...but she did so good. We hadn't planned on going trick or treating at all, then our friends invited her to go with them, and she seemed up to it. Toby and Greg took her and Brett around their neighborhood, while Lori and I stayed with the babies and handed out candy. According to the guys, there was only 1 house that Lexi wouldn't go up to because the outside was decorated really "scary"; other than that she did great!!! Bonus for Mom: NO NIGHTMARES EITHER!!!

Once they got done trick or treating, they enjoyed handing out candy to the rest of the kids coming around!! All in all, one of the best Halloween's Lexi has had!!!

Race for the Cure...

We had an eventful weekend, which started early Saturday with us all participating in the Race for the Cure at Northpark Center for The Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer foundation. Eli and Lexi were along for the ride in their strollers, while Greg and I pushed and walked the 5K. This is a great family activity for a GREAT cause. Some Fun Times...

We have been really busy lately, but wanted to let you know what we have been up to. On our only Saturday off from Soccer, we took the kids to the State Fair. Of course, Eli slept most of the time, but Lexi seemed to really enjoy all the rides and the games. She saw a "purple" unicorn at the beginning of the day she wanted her daddy to win her. We told her we would do games right before we left, so after a long day of walking and eating corndogs, we headed over to the Midway to play. Greg gave the guy a $5 and got 3 darts to bust the balloons - okay, done. Problem is that she couldn't get the unicorn with that - so he gave the guy $10 more and had 5 more chances. All balloons busted, but still not up to the level of the unicorn. I finally said, "look dude, I am tired, how much money will it take to get the stupid unicorn"...he made us a deal if you can believe it...another $20, 1 busted balloon and the unicorn is hers. Done! She now has a $35 purple unicorn that sits will all of her other stuffed animals - but, hey, she had fun!!!

Eli is doing great - he turned 4 months on Monday, October 6th. It is so hard to believe is he growing up so fast. We went for his 4 month check-up today. He weighed 14 lbs, 13 oz (50%), and was 25.5 inches long (75%). He is slobbering quiet a bit these days, which tells me a tooth could be around the corner anyday now. His new favorite things are his hands...usually has at least one whole hand in his mouth.

Update...

I can't believe it is Wednesday already...Thought I would give an update on some things that have happened over the last week or so.

We had company this past weekend, which was really nice. Allison, Zach, and Amanda came to see us and we really enjoyed their visit, and I know they enjoyed getting to see Lexi and Eli, as well.

Lexi has had 2 soccer games recently - one on Saturday and one this past Monday. They won both of the games, and Lexi scored several goals in each one. She still is really enjoying it and it is fun for us too! She has another game next Monday. GO GALAXY!!! She also is loving Private Kindergarten. She had "homework" for the first time last week, and wanted to do it right away when she got home. I am glad she is so eager about school...reminds me a little (okay a lot) of myself when I was her age! She brought home her first set of spelling words this week, so we are working on them. She pretty much already has them down - I, We, My, Can, Is, and A.

Eli just continues to grow! He is getting to be such a big boy. It is so hard to believe that he is almost 4 months old (10/6). He is always so happy and when I'm having a bad day at work, his big smiles and laughs are just the medicine I need to keep me going.

Our Little Ham...

Here is a little video of our sweet boy giving Mommy big smiles and laughs. He is such a little ham. We have a video monitor in his room, and everytime we put him in his bed, he stares at the camera like he is on TV. It is hysterical. The video is a little grainy, as I did it with my cell phone!

Many Firsts...

Well, I made it back from my working trip to Tampa yesterday, and Greg survived Mr. Mom duties! We are both extremely tired, but are making it!

Thought I would let you all know of some firsts happening around the Townsen household. First of all, Eli rolled over on 8/25 for the first time from his belly to his back, but I just now was able to capture a picture of it. He is such a big boy and continues to grow everyday. It amazed me how much he grew in just 3 days while I was out of town. He is 3 months TODAY! Happy Birthday precious baby!!

Look what a big boy I am!

Eli supported his Sissy today at soccer, and looks like he had a great time!

Second of all, Lexi played her very first soccer game today and did SO awesome! She scored 3 goals, and assisted on 2 more! We couldn't be more proud of her! Two of the little girls would hardly play, so Lexi played the whole game with the exception of about 5 minutes. For her to be such a girly girl, she really got after it on the field! She told me after the game was over that Toby would be very proud of her. For those of you who don't know Toby, he is one of our good friends, who has a little boy, Brett, that has always been Lexi's closest boy friend. They have practically grown up together. To make a long story short, Toby and Brett are big time soccer players, so she knew that they would be really proud of her even though they weren't there to watch since they had their own game today!

Getting Everyone Caught Up!

Well since we are just getting the blog underway I thought I would get everyone up to speed on what has been happening in our world.
First, I would like to give an update on our precious baby boy. Many of you may not be aware, but when he was around 7 weeks old (now 12 weeks), we had some medical scares that thankfully through lots of prayers turned out okay. Eli started having difficulty breathing - to make a long story short - he was diagnosed with Laryngomalacia (http://www.cincinnatichildrens.org/svc/alpha/o/ent/resources/glossary.htm#L) as well as severe reflux, but on top of that he had a serious lung infection. The next few days were extremely scary as he was almost hospitalized. Thank the GOOD LORD that he improved quickly from the infection, his breathing improved, and started acting like a normal 2 month old. These conditions are something that with control from medication, mainly Prevacid, he will outgrow. To help him sleep more comfortably, he sleeps on a RES-Q Wedge, which was medically prescribed.

Recently, our beautiful daughter, Lexi, started Private Kindergarten at Primrose School. She is really enjoying being a "big girl" and is loving school even more than before. I can't believe she is almost 5! It seems like just yesterday that she was Eli's age. She has really grown into her own and has a VERY independent personality - think she takes after her mother!!

Greg is looking forward to the start of dove season tomorrow and I am working hard to lose the rest of my baby weight, as well as staying extremely busy with work at Verizon. I would like to give my hubby lots of praises, as he will be "Mr. Mom" next week, as I make my first business trip since going back to work from maternity leave. Greg will be juggling schools schedules, work, soccer practice, medicine, and baby feedings, along with anything else that comes up! I AM SO LUCKY TO HAVE SUCH AN AMAZING HUSBAND!

It's About Time

I guess it is about time that we started a family blog, especially since Greg and I love technology so much. Hopefully this will enable us to keep up with family and friends a little easier. I will post some new pictures soon!
